MP Nelson Koech, "It wasn't my money but for Aaron Cheruiyot's football tournament, for the young people of Kericho".

He went ahead to defend himself noting that the only problem that he made was carrying the money which he was to award to his team that had won.

When asked where all that money had come from, he alleged that it was given to Aaron Cheruiyot who is the Jericho county senator by different organisations.

This comes days after President William Ruto has promised to address the opulence and extravagance displayed by some state officers, particularly Cabinet Secretaries and MPs.

In an interview with the media at State House on Sunday, the president promised Kenyans that they would see changes in the future, including reduced government spending and the elimination of unconstitutional offices.
