Suspected ritualist who removed skull from inside graveyard lands in police net

A suspected ritualist who was said to have gone to a graveyard and removed the skull of a dead person has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command, it was gathered on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Omolola Odutola, who disclosed this on her X handle, gave the man's name as Lekan Akinyem, aged 45 yearsi.

He was arrested on the order of the Divisional Police Officer DPO of the Adatan Police Station in Abeokuta, the state capital, after he was found with the skull.

According to the Police PRO, he dug the grave of a man, Saubana Balogun, who died some time ago, at Isale Itoko, Abeokuta and removed the skull. He was arrested a few days after committing the act.

He is currently giving more useful information to men of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) regarding his action.

The Police PRO wrote: "SUSPECTED RITUALIST: 25th June 2024 One Lekan Akinyemi has been arrested by Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Adatan for being in possession of a human skull.

"He dug the grave of late Saubana Balogun at Isale Itoko, Abeokuta, and detached the skull. SCID will investigate."

Many ritualists who always target graveyards to remove skulls and other body parts which they intend to use for money rituals have been arrested on many occasions by policemen while some have been imprisoned over the atrocious acts.
