'EFCC Don't have to destruct economic activities in the name of a certain 50 million' - Frank Tietie

In an interview with Arise News, Frank Tietie, an Arise Analyst and Lawyer, emphasized the importance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) maintaining a careful balance in its investigations to avoid disrupting economic activities. Tietie acknowledged the necessity for the EFCC to monitor financial transactions, even those involving large sums of money, but cautioned against causing unnecessary disruptions to economic activities.

Tietie highlighted the need for the EFCC to adopt a systemic approach to combating corruption, as mentioned by the Chairman of the commission. He stressed the importance of understanding the patterns of corruption and financial malfeasance within the larger economic system.

In his words;

"The EFCC has to have and manage a careful balance because you don't have to destruct economic activities in the name or the fact that you are watching for a certain 50 million that is moving from one account to the other. Nevertheless, it must understand the pattern. I like the word systemic that the Chairman used. You must understand the systemic approach the corruption"
