Okey Nwanguma, the national coordinator and executive director of the Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC), expressed serious apprehensions regarding individuals who are taking advantage of the country's security challenges for personal benefit. He pinpointed that some self-proclaimed negotiators are exploiting the current situation by acting on behalf of either bandits or the government during negotiations.
Okey underscored the importance of refraining from politicizing matters of security, underscoring that security stands as a crucial and delicate issue that should not be exploited for personal gain or political motives.
In an interview with The Sun, Okey said, "The truth is that even the insecurity that we are talking about, a lot of people are benefitting from it. You see some individuals calling themselves negotiators, negotiating for bandits or negotiating for government. Can you imagine that? You don’t politicize security because it is a very sensitive issue."
