A tragic accident occurred in Murang’a County, claiming the lives of four individuals. The incident took place along the busy Kenol-Thika-Nyeri highway, a major route linking several towns in Central Kenya. The crash happened in the early hours of the morning, involving a collision between a private car and a lorry.

Eyewitnesses reported that the car was heading towards Thika when it veered off its lane and collided head-on with the lorry, which was coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was devastating, resulting in the immediate deaths of four occupants in the car. The driver of the lorry survived with minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Emergency responders, including police and paramedics, arrived swiftly at the scene. They managed to extricate the bodies from the mangled wreckage and transport them to the Murang’a County mortuary. The highway was temporarily closed, leading to significant traffic disruptions as authorities conducted investigations and cleared the wreckage.

Murang’a County Traffic Commander urged drivers to exercise caution and adhere to road safety regulations, noting that the stretch where the accident occurred is prone to accidents due to high speeds and reckless driving. The tragic incident underscores the urgent need for improved road safety measures on the Kenol-Thika-Nyeri highway.
