Newcastle agree £68m double sale to ease PSR concerns

According to 90min, Newcastle United have finalized deals to offload Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to Brighton & Hove Albion and Nottingham Forest respectively, netting nearly £70 million in transfer fees in the process.

The Magpies have been eager to raise funds swiftly amid concerns over potential breaches of the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules, which could lead to a points deduction if not addressed before the June 30 deadline for financial accounts.

The club's financial crunch has also sparked speculation about the futures of star players like Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, with reports suggesting Newcastle even entertained the idea of selling Anthony Gordon to Liverpool, although that move ultimately fell through.

However, two deals that have progressed smoothly involve teenager Minteh and 21-year-old Anderson, both of whom seemed poised for promising futures at St James' Park.

According to The Athletic, Brighton has agreed to pay around £33 million for Minteh, allowing the young talent to negotiate personal terms and undergo a medical. Minteh spent last season on loan at Feyenoord, where he impressed with 10 goals in 27 Eredivisie appearances. If completed, his transfer would make him Brighton's record signing.

Meanwhile, Anderson is set to join Nottingham Forest in a £35 million deal, as reported by Sky Sports. The move does not include Anthony Elanga heading the other way, despite earlier speculation. Anderson had hoped to stay and compete for his place at Newcastle, but with the club prioritizing sales and Forest gearing up for their third consecutive Premier League season, he has accepted the transfer.

In another potential transaction, Mail Sport reports that Newcastle is pursuing goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos from Nottingham Forest to provide additional competition for Nick Pope and Martin Dubravka. This move comes after third-choice goalkeeper Loris Karius left Newcastle earlier this summer following the expiration of his contract.
