Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), shared his experience of being investigated by the EFCC and eventually being cleared of all accusations.
In a video shared by Channels TV, Olukoyede described how he was investigated for two and a half years and even suspended from his duties despite being innocent. During this time, his reputation was scrutinized, and his name appeared frequently in the news. Authorities found it difficult to believe that someone in his high-ranking position, managing assets including over 500 real estate properties, could remain free of corruption. Despite thorough searches and expectations of finding evidence of wrongdoing, nothing was found, and he was ultimately cleared, proving his integrity.

Olukoyede recounted how his name was maligned, and he was investigated for an extended period, even though he had done nothing wrong. He emphasized that the authorities were skeptical that someone could hold such a significant position as chief of staff in the EFCC, manage extensive assets, and still maintain integrity. He noted that despite exhaustive searches, they found no evidence of misconduct, and he was given a clean bill of health. This experience, he asserted, demonstrated his commitment to integrity and ethical conduct.

In his own words, he remarked, "My name was all over the place. I was maligned left, right and center. I was under investigation for two and half years, suspended for doing nothing. At the end of the day, I was giving a clean bill. There is nothing they didn't do, there is nowhere they didn't search. They could not believe there is someone in this country who will hold such a position as chief of staff in EFCC and Secretary and you manage the entire asset, at some point you have over 500 real estates that I managed, that they will not trace something to you".
