Sokoto Hospital Denies Treating ‘Killed’ Dogo Gide

A private Specialist Hospital in Sokoto has denied treating Dogo Gide, a notorious bandit leader allegedly shot by the military and rumored to have died from his wounds. Social media circulated reports of his death while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Sokoto. Dogo Gide, known for various criminal activities including the abduction of school children, claimed responsibility for shooting down a Nigerian Air Force helicopter in 2023. The hospital refuted the rumors, stating they have never treated anyone involved in terrorism or criminality. Doubts persist about Gide's purported death, with conflicting reports and lack of concrete evidence. Despite being injured by the military, Gide was reportedly involved in negotiating the release of abducted school children recently. Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer stated that information regarding Gide's death remains unconfirmed.

LP BoT Takes Over Party

The Labour Party (LP) is facing a crisis due to an alleged takeover by its Board of Trustees (BoT) following the expiration of the National Working Committee's (NWC) tenure led by Julius Abure. The BoT, led by Sylvester Ejiofor, cited the need to avoid a leadership vacuum and referenced a Federal High Court consent judgment recognizing the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) as LP's owners. The BoT, in consultation with stakeholders, plans to organize an all-inclusive national convention, contrasting recent events in Nnewi. The BoT aims to reclaim and reposition the LP for socio-political emancipation, commending members' fidelity to party ideals and promising transparency in the convention process.
