Minister of Interior Highlights Reforms in Security and Immigration Processes

The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, says the government is continuously working to enhance the security screening process to ensure a smooth and efficient experience for travelers while maintaining the highest standards of security to keep Nigerians safe.

He spoke during an exclusive interview organized by the State House, Abuja, and hosted by O’tega Ogra.

According to The Punch, Dr.Tunji-Ojo discussed the extensive reforms being implemented to transform the Ministry of Interior and its agencies. These reforms include prison reforms, enhanced border security, national asset protection, fair remuneration for personnel, improved emergency responses, and streamlined immigration processes.

The minister also highlighted that significant upgrades have been initiated, capable of transforming key sectors that impact the nation’s security and efficiency. He stated that the Ministry of Interior is responsible for citizenship integrity and the enhancement of internal security, among other things.

According to him, the ministry oversees the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service, and the National Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
