Supporters of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, erupted in jubilation following a landmark Appeal Court ruling that reinstated Martins Amaewhule and 24 lawmakers as Speaker and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The judgement, which overturned an earlier decision stripping Amaewhule and his colleagues of their legislative roles, prompted widespread celebration among the minister's loyalists.

They gathered, drumming and singing praises in honor of the court's decision.

Formerly ousted local government chairmen, Dr. Chidi Lloyd and Chief Samuel Nwanosike, expressed satisfaction with the ruling, asserting that it nullified all actions taken under the Victor Oko-Jumbo-led assembly.

They emphasized the judiciary's role in upholding constitutional principles and preventing potential chaos in the state.

According to The Nation, Lloyd commended the judiciary's impartiality, emphasizing that adherence to legal norms is crucial regardless of one's position in government.

He criticized the lower court judge for what he described as a decision capable of plunging the state into anarchy.

Nwanosike urged Governor Siminialayi Fubara and his supporters to respect the court's decision, warning of consequences for disregarding lawful orders.

Both Lloyd and Nwanosike indicated readiness to await further legal proceedings before resuming their respective offices, stressing ongoing litigation over tenure elongation issues.
