A late penalty ended Manchester United's hopes of winning after Antony's first goal in their most recent Premier League match, leaving them with a difficult 1-1 draw against Burnley.

The game began quickly, with Alejandro Garnacho missing a close chance to score straight after and David Fofana testing Manchester United's defense in the opening twenty seconds.

In the first few minutes of play, both sides had plenty of opportunities, with Christian Eriksen and Antony posing a threat to Burnley's goalkeeper, Arijanet Muric. The score remained tied as Kobbie Mainoo's volley just missed and Bruno Fernandes struck the post.

Burnley was a threat despite United's superiority, as Wilson Odobert and Lyle Foster put United's goalkeeper, Andre Onana, to the test. As Vincent Kompany's team gathered momentum, Foster nearly broke the tie, but Onana made a spectacular stop to keep it at that.

Burnley took advantage of defensive breakdowns in the second half, while United wasted chances, notably one from Antony after Alejandro Garnacho's superb wing movement.

Muric blocked Garnacho's attempts as United pushed for a winner. But Antony's goal put United ahead as he seized on a misdirected pass from Sander Berge and slotted the ball into the net. Their happiness was short-lived, too, as Onana's ill-advised challenge on Zeki Amdouni led to a late penalty for Burnley, which was skillfully scored to deny United the win.
