INEC Tenders Documents to Back Kogi Gov’s Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented electoral documents against the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate, Murtala Ajaka, at the Kogi governorship petition tribunal. The SDP is challenging the victory of Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 11, 2023 Kogi governorship election. INEC submitted various documents, including regulations, manuals, and forms, as evidence. The tribunal admitted the documents and marked them as exhibits. The case was adjourned until April 16 for further hearing, with a shortened timeline for respondents to present their cases and file final written addresses.

Katsina Gets New HoS, Bawale

Falalu Bawale has been appointed as the new Head of Service (HoS) of Katsina State by Governor Umaru Radda, replacing Alhaji Usman Isyaku. Bawale, formerly the permanent secretary in the office of the HoS, takes on this new role, while Isyaku is appointed as the special adviser for public sector administration reforms. Governor Radda congratulated Bawale on his appointment and thanked Isyaku for his service.

Kano political crisis: NNPP stakehokders pass no confidence vote on Gov Yusuf

Stakeholders of the NNPP in the 19 Northern States, known as Concerned NNPP Stakeholders, issued a vote of no confidence against Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, criticizing the party's leadership in the state. They expressed disappointment in the party's performance in Kano, stating it has not lived up to expectations and failed to provide the promised change. The stakeholders highlighted the rift between Governor Abba Yusuf and his predecessor, Umar Ganduje, who is now the National Chairman of the APC.

76 pedestrians arraigned for crossing highways

The Lagos State government apprehended and arraigned 76 individuals for failing to use pedestrian bridges in Ojota, Ladipo, and Oshodi areas. The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrests and stated that the offenders have been charged to court. This action follows the ministry's warning against disregarding pedestrian bridges, considering it an offense to cross major highways without using them. In a separate development, the ministry initiated the removal of illegal properties built on drainage channels along System 1 midstream – Odo Iyalaro – Ojota – Ogudu channel, after property owners ignored multiple notices and continued construction.
