In a significant move to enhance the security infrastructure of Kogi State, Governor Usman Ododo has distributed security gadgets to 1,050 hunters. This initiative aims to empower local hunters to more effectively combat crime and ensure the safety of the state's residents.

According to AIT Live, the distribution ceremony, held in Lokoja on Thursday, saw Governor Ododo emphasizing the importance of collaboration among various security agencies. "We need to deepen our partnerships to effectively combat criminal activities throughout Kogi State," Ododo stated.

He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to maintaining peace and security, vowing to take decisive action against anyone threatening the well-being of the state's citizens.

Governor Ododo urged the hunters to maintain professionalism and work alongside other security agencies in their efforts to fight crime. "Your role is crucial in supporting our security forces to ensure a safer environment for everyone," he added.

Kogi State Police Commissioner Bertrand Onuoha and State Security Adviser Commodore Jerry Omodara (Retired) were also present at the ceremony. They highlighted the significance of the distributed gadgets in aiding security personnel.

"These tools will greatly enhance our ability to reduce crime and improve our response times," said Commissioner Onuoha.

This initiative follows the Kogi State House of Assembly’s approval in June 2024 for the recruitment of 1,050 hunters, aimed at bolstering the state's security framework. The approval underscored the government's commitment to proactive measures in addressing security challenges.

The newly equipped hunters are expected to play a vital role in the state's overall security strategy, providing crucial support in rural and hard-to-reach areas where traditional law enforcement presence is limited. This move is part of a broader effort to leverage community resources and local knowledge in the fight against crime.

Governor Ododo's administration continues to prioritize the safety of Kogi State’s residents, demonstrating a proactive stance in tackling security issues head-on.
