Asukewe Iko Awaji, a member of the Rivers Elders Council, has provided his thoughts on the announcement that two commissioners in Rivers State have resigned after being transferred to different positions by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

It was mentioned by Awaji in a video that was uploaded to YouTube by Arise TV that he was concerned that the recent incident would divert Nyesom Wike, who was formerly the Governor of Rivers State, from his current responsibilities as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. He made the observation that anyone who is present in Abuja at the moment would be able to observe something new that Wike is doing that is being done. He strongly advised others to refrain from involving him in the business of the state.

Additionally, Awaji advised everyone to respect the decisions that Governor Fubara has taken, emphasising that these decisions are intended to be to the benefit of the people of the state.

In Awaji's words: "I am in Abuja, if you are in Abuja today you will see that Wike has started doing something new. These people should stop distracting him, he has moved from the state to the national, and who knows what God has for him. But keep drawing him back will make him lose focus"
