The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, recently announced plans by the National Assembly to establish a cutting-edge medical center specifically for senators, members of the House of Representatives, and the staff of the federal parliament.

According to a report by Punch, this announcement was made during his address to his colleagues upon their return to the chamber following the Eid-El-Kabir holiday break.

Akpabio emphasized that this proposed hospital will be designed to cater to the healthcare needs of all lawmakers and National Assembly staff.

The facility aims to ensure that quality medical services are readily available to them.

He highlighted that this initiative is part of the second legislative year's agenda, aimed at providing efficient and effective healthcare solutions within close reach.

Reflecting on the accomplishments of the tenth Senate during its first legislative year, Akpabio noted that they successfully passed twenty-five bills.

Some of these significant legislations include the South-East Development Bill, the Northern Development Bill, the Old National Anthem Bill, and the Death Penalty for Drug Traffickers Bill.

Beyond legislative achievements, the Senate also actively fulfilled its oversight duties, promoted inter-parliamentary cooperation and diplomacy, and intervened in various issues that are important to the citizens.
