Former NIS official Patrick Osoi has criticized Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his comments against National Intelligence Service (NIS) chief Noordin Haji following recent demonstrations. Osoi, who previously worked with Haji in Counter Intelligence, urged Gachagua to respect the roles of government offices despite personal disagreements.

"It was wrong for Rigathi Gachagua to directly attack an organization which is the cerebrum system of the government. Noordin Haji was an assistant director, a senior officer in NIS. NIS operations are not dependent on one person, and performance evaluations are conducted often," Osoi stated. He warned that Gachagua's comments posed both international and national security threats, regardless of the allegations' truth.

Osoi emphasized that NIS’s role is to advise the president or government, not to make decisions for them. He noted President William Ruto’s recent interview, where Ruto mentioned having information conflicting with Rigathi's claims, stressing that publicly available information is not the same as intelligence.
