Police, Robbery Suspects in Gun Duel in Lagos

On the night of July 5, 2024, a gun battle occurred between police and robbery suspects on Ladipo Road, Mushin, Lagos. The shootout, which started around 8 pm and lasted until just before 10 pm, caused the usually busy area to become deserted as people fled. Eyewitnesses claimed the gunmen intended to rob a bank. The police, called for backup from the Ladipo Station, eventually released tear gas to disperse the suspects. There were no confirmed injuries or deaths reported at the time. Police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin was unavailable for comment.

Ajibola Settles Rift With Olakulehin

The rift between Otun Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, and Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, was resolved as they embraced during a visit by Ibadan Obas. Ajibola had previously criticized Olakulehin's fitness for the role. The reconciliation took place at Olakulehin's home, with Ajibola affirming their close association and describing the earlier conflict as beneficial for Olakulehin. Oba Olasunkanmi Abioye Opeola expressed optimism about peace, progress, and development in Ibadanland under Olakulehin's reign.
