Former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has categorically stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not involved in the ongoing crisis surrounding the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election in the state.

According to NAIJA NEWS, this clarification comes amid speculation following a recent court ruling.

The Abuja Federal High Court recently nullified the PDP primary election in Edo State, which had produced Asue Ighodalo as the party's governorship candidate.

The court's decision was based on the unlawful exclusion of 378 delegates during the primary election conducted on February 22, 2024.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Oshiomhole emphasized that the APC has no role in the internal conflicts of the PDP.

"This is purely PDP intra-party, and I think the lesson is very clear, namely that parties must be encouraged to obey the laws that regulate the conduct of primaries," he stated.

Oshiomhole further clarified that the law prohibits any party from interfering in the intra-party conflicts of another party.

"By the law, another party cannot go into intra-party conflicts in court. I think you should dismiss that because this is PDP versus PDP, and you know that by the law, another party cannot go into intra-party conflicts in court," he added.

He also highlighted the ongoing divisions within the PDP, both before and after their primaries, noting that these issues are well-known.

"The fact that there had been division in Edo before their primaries and after their primaries is an open secret, and the issues in dispute are also very open," Oshiomhole remarked.

The former governor touched on the internal strife within the PDP, referencing complaints from the party's legacy group.

"The PDP legacy group complained that the man they gave their master bedroom has completely chased them out of the building, and now they’re under the rain, and as we speak, they are still trying to settle," he said.
