In anticipation of the September 21 gubernatorial election in Edo State, Prince Felix Abubakar Isuku, a prominent member of the Asue Ighodalo Campaign Council, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This resignation adds to the growing list of PDP members who have left the party ahead of the elections.

Isuku's resignation was formally communicated in a letter addressed to the PDP state chairman and other party officials on Friday. Having served three terms as the Executive Director of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service under both Governor Godwin Obaseki and his predecessor, Comrade Governor Adams Aliu Oshiomhole, Isuku cited internal power struggles as the primary reason for his departure.

In his resignation letter, Isuku stated, "After extensive consultations with my political family in the Owan constituency, I have decided to resign from the PDP. The high level of power struggle that began with the factionalization of the party has led to continuous internal conflicts, which have severely impacted the party's politics."

He further elaborated, "The megalomaniac attitudes of some party leaders cannot be ignored. I have lost interest in the party's leadership and no longer have confidence in its ability to win credible elections. My interests and ideologies are no longer aligned with those of the party, which has become divided against itself."

Isuku highlighted his past contributions to the PDP, stating, "I was the PDP Leader of Wards 3 and 4 of Ihievbe and one of the foremost leaders in Owan East and West Local Governments. I have tirelessly supported the party, especially during elections, using my resources and influence. However, due to the party's ongoing internal issues, I am compelled to resign from all party responsibilities, including my role in the campaign committee for Dr. Asue Ighodalo."

This resignation marks a significant shift in Edo State's political landscape, reflecting the broader challenges faced by the PDP as it prepares for the upcoming gubernatorial election.
