Annkio Briggs, a member of Rivers State Elders, has raised concerns about the peace deal initiated by President Tinubu which Governor Fubara and his predecessor former Governor Wike signed. The deal which is aimed at resolving the political tensions in Rivers State involved Governor Fubara recognizing the leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Martins Amaewhule, along with the members who decamped from PDP to APC.

In a video recently shared on YouTube by Channels TV, Briggs said the document signed by Fubara is unconstitutional. She said while some support the deal, the people of Rivers including the elders in the state are opposed to it. She said whether the lawmakers who defected from PDP are still valid members of the assembly or not should be left for the court to decide.

In her words: "What the President made Governor Fubara to do are what Rivers people are objecting to, while some are in favour of it"
