Opinion: Wrong transfer move for Chelsea as they eye two goalkeepers

Chelsea could be making the wrong transfer move this summer as they look to sign a new goalkeeper.

The Blues are said to be on the lookout to get for a new goalkeeper despite having two good goalkeepers and have identified the likes of Jan Oblak and Wojciech Szczesny.

According to a report released by AS, Chelsea have made their interest in Atletico Madrid star Oblak known and are willing to negotiate a deal for the current 31-year-old keeper.

With Chelsea having shown that they want the proven goalkeeper, reports has claimed that the Spanish side are more than ready to part ways with the Slovenian, should their valuation of him be met.

Another goalkeeper Chelsea are looking to sign is current Juventus man Wojciech Szczesny. The former Arsenal star has been drawing transfer interest lately, with some other European clubs also considering the possibilities of signing him.

However, I think it would be a wrong move for Chelsea to sign a new goalkeeper, as they already have great keepers in Dorde Petrovic and Robert Sanchez.

The two has proven that they have what it takes to be a regular for the club, Petrovic especially, who stepped up after Sanchez was injured. The keeper has made 20 Premier League appearances, keeping 5 clean sheets in the process and while also making numerous saves.

Sanchez on the other hand is equally good with both his hands and feet. The 25-year-old was a regular for the club at the start of the current season but lost his place to Petrovic after going out injured. Apart from playing just 16 EPL games and some errors he made, especially against Arsenal in the first leg at Stamford Bridge, Sanchez has been spotless.

So I don't see why the club is looking to invest on a new goalkeeper instead of on a striker, with reports also claiming that a move for current Napoli star Victor Osimhen could materialize.

They should channel this energy to signing a striker and a new midfielder.
