Troops from the Nigerian Army's 6th Brigade/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) captured a man who was impersonating an army recruitment official in Taraba State and attempted to defraud potential military recruits.

This action came after Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, paid a visit to the recruitment center at 114 Battalion Jimilari to examine the existing process and ensure transparency.

The impersonator was apprehended on Saturday as he attempted to collect money from potential recruits by guaranteeing them assured admittance into the Nigerian Army.

The military' quick action stopped his plans, keeping the candidates safe from fraud.

During his visit, Brigadier General Uwa spoke with the candidates, assuring them of a fair and transparent recruitment procedure.

"We are committed to maintaining a level playing field for all candidates, our recruitment will be based solely on merit, and we will not tolerate any fraudulent activities," the CEO stated.

He highlighted that recruitment is optional and free, reminding candidates not to offer money to anyone promising to help them pass the recruiting screening.

Speaking about the imposter's arrest, General Uwa praised the troops' alertness, noting that the Army prioritizes the integrity of the recruitment process.

He further stated that the arrested suspect would be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

The 6 Brigade encourages all candidates and the general public to report any suspicious activity linked to the recruitment exercise to the authorities, as this would help guarantee that only the most qualified individuals are inducted into the Nigerian Army.
