Former Edo State Aspirant Compares Dr. Asue Ighodalo to Obafemi Awolowo, Urges Support in Upcoming Election

According to Vanguard, Former Edo State House of Assembly aspirant in Etsako East Local Government, Ilugbekhai Inwomoh, has called on the people of Edo State to vote for Dr. Asue Ighodalo in the September 21 governorship election, likening him to the revered Obafemi Awolowo.

Ilugbekhai, a member of the Advisory Council (New Media) in the PDP Campaign Council, described Ighodalo as a modern Awolowo who prioritizes public interest over personal gain.

He stated, “When Awolowo was alive, he lived and dreamed of people’s welfare and development. The western region was a pacesetter under him. Just as Edo is currently a pacesetter in Nigeria in terms of development, security, and highest salary for civil servants under Governor Godwin Obaseki in PDP administration when other opposition states and the federal government are still struggling to pay what Edo government is paying with ease.”

Ilugbekhai also highlighted Awolowo's historical impact, noting that he introduced the first television in Africa when some European countries were yet to have one.

“The secret of Awolowo’s effective leadership was his exposure and knowledge. That is why we need an exposed candidate like Dr. Asue Ighodalo who is well educated and connected. A vote for PDP is a vote for a rebranded Edo State. If our dreams of becoming a pacesetter to a new Nigeria are to be realized, then we need the best hands for the job. Asue Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie are the two men who know the way,” he concluded.
