In a statement released today, elder statesman and industrialist Chike Obidigbo refuted claims implicating President Bola Tinubu in the detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

Addressing the press in Awka, Anambra State, Obidigbo emphasized that Kanu’s incarceration is solely a security matter and cautioned against politicizing the issue.

Obidigbo criticized Igbo politicians for allegedly exploiting Kanu’s detention for personal gain, urging them to pursue a more diplomatic approach.

He expressed disappointment at the mishandling of the situation by some Southeast political elites, attributing their actions to ignorance and self-interest.

Highlighting the complexities surrounding Kanu’s arrest and rendition, Obidigbo pointed to British involvement, noting their silence on the matter.

He alleged that Kanu, a British citizen, was lured from Britain to Kenya and forcibly brought to Nigeria, actions facilitated by international collaboration.

The elder statesman called for a restrained approach to resolving Kanu’s plight, stressing the need for quiet diplomacy over inflammatory rhetoric.

According to The Nation, he underscored the British government’s role in the saga, accusing them of complicity in Kanu’s abduction and urging them to speak out against such violations.
