In a video broadcast on Channels Television, Tony Okocha, Chairman of the Rivers State APC Caretaker Committee, criticized Governor Sim Fubara, alleging he is unresponsive to advice. Okocha claimed that even President Tinubu's counsel was ignored by the governor. He suggested that the federal government declaring a state of emergency is the necessary solution to the ongoing crisis in Rivers State.
Furthermore, Okocha condemned Governor Fubara's assertion that there are no capable elders in Rivers State to mediate the conflict, calling it arrogant.
In Tony Okocha's statement in a video (36:41), he said, "I want to say to Mr. President that the solution to the quagmire in Rivers State is to impose a state of emergency. Like I said, the governor is not amenable to counsel; the President advised him, but he refused and went on television to claim that Rivers does not have elders with the capacity and capability to strike a truce."
