Chelsea legend Emmanuel Petit has urged the club to reconsider their pursuit of Victor Osimhen and Alexander Isak, instead backing rising star Nicolas Jackson to lead the line for the Blues, according to Sport Brief.

Petit, who won the Premier League and FA Cup with Chelsea in 2000, believes that Jackson's impressive debut season warrants more opportunities, and that signing established strikers like Osimhen and Isak could hinder his development.

"Chelsea do not need Osimhen or Isak," Petit told Afrik Foot. "We all know about the No. 9 curse at Chelsea, and in the last couple of months, we've seen what Jackson can do. There's no need to put more pressure on him by signing someone like Isak on his back."

Jackson, 22, has scored 16 goals and provided five assists in over 30 appearances for Chelsea this season, quickly becoming a key figure in Mauricio Pochettino's attacking lineup. Petit believes that investing in Jackson's development will benefit the club in the long run and send a positive message to other young players within the squad
