Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has declared that he has no regret as governor because he surpassed all his election promises.

Obaseki said he has impacted all areas and sectors since assuming office as governor.

Addressing journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital, the governor said his government has laid a solid foundation for the state’s progress and development.

Executive order: Pharmaceutical sector can now breathe — NECA

Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, NECA, has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s new executive order on zero tariff, excise duty and Value Added Tax, VAT, for pharmaceutical raw materials, machinery and equipment, saying the sector can now breathe.

In a statement, NECA’s Director-General, Mr. Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, urged quick and timely implementation of the Order to provide a leeway out of the current cost challenges and allow the sector to rebound.

According to NECA, “To boost activities in the pharmaceutical sector, President Bola Tinubu signed an Executive Order introducing zero tariff, Excise Duties and Value Added Tax, VAT, on some pharmaceutical raw-materials and specialized pharmaceutic machinery and equipment to boost the production of essential healthcare products in the economy.

El-Muhammad Is Not Our Staff – Peace Corps

Adamawa State Peace Corps Command has denied owing Mallam Zayyad El-Muhammad any unpaid allowances, saying he is no longer a staff member.

Reacting to a newspaper publication where Muhammad claimed he and other command staff had not been paid their allowances for four years, Hyelawalbiya Aliyuda, AC Intelligence of the command, said: “ Zayyad El-Muhammad is no longer a Peace Corps staff member. He was suspended on May 19, 2020, and relieved of his job along with five others on September 27, 2022.

“He and others were penalised after they were found wanting in accordance with Article 17 (2) (d) of the constitution of Peace Corps of Nigeria, which bars them from holding any office in the organisation.

Multinationals’ exit, opportunity for domestic industries — MAN DG

The Director General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Segun Ajayi-Kadir, has contended that the recent exit of some multinational companies from Nigeria offers a golden opportunity for homegrown manufacturers to thrive in the country with proper government empowerment.

Ajayi-Kadir noted in a media chat that the apparent setbacks suffered due to the exit of the multinationals could be turned into an opportunity by placing the spotlight on homegrown manufacturers by the government empowering the domestic manufacturing sector.

He stated: “I think there is a strong lesson to be learned here. The big ones leaving are the multinationals, which should send a clear signal to the government.
