As reported by Sahara reporters, gunmen attacked a police checkpoint in Abia State on Friday evening, killing two officers and injuring one. "It happened so fast," said an eyewitness. "Six men in a Sienna SUV pulled up and started shooting at the officers doing their routine checks."

The incident occurred at Opobo Junction on the Aba-Ikot Ekpene Expressway, causing panic in the area. A local trader recounted, "Everyone started running. We closed our shops immediately and fled for safety."

This attack follows a similar incident last month. A police spokesperson confirmed, "We're seeing a pattern of assaults on law enforcement. We're increasing our presence in the area to combat these threats."

Security experts are concerned about the rising violence. "These attacks point to deeper issues in the region," noted a security analyst. "We need to address the root causes of this unrest to ensure long-term stability and safety for both officers and civilians."
