Lawyer and human rights activist, Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, has responded to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for failing to mention any specific names in a press release following the incident where Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo reportedly assisted former Governor Yahaya Bello to evade arrest by EFCC operatives.
According to reports, Governor Ododo intervened on Wednesday to prevent the arrest of the embattled former governor, Yahaya Bello, by EFCC personnel. Subsequently, the EFCC issued a warning in a press statement cautioning against obstructing the lawful duties of its officers.
In response, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu criticized the EFCC for not directly naming or addressing their press statement to the current Kogi State governor and his immediate predecessor. He expressed disappointment that the EFCC did not specifically target these individuals in their communication, describing the Commission's response as lacking the necessary assertiveness or authority in addressing the situation.
