Asari Dokubo, a prominent leader in the Kalabari Kingdom, has expressed his concerns about the relationship between the Igbo people and the South South region. In a video posted on Facebook, Dokubo questioned why the Igbo people seem to oppose initiatives that benefit the South South, while simultaneously seeking their support.

He shared a personal experience where a individual messaged him, only to turn the conversation into insults. Dokubo asked the person how they could consider him a brother, citing the example of Peter Obi, whom they had previously supported despite Obi's betrayal.

According to him, "I don't know why Igbos and people from the southeast will not like anything that will benefit the people from the south south, and yet, they want the south south to tag along with them. Somebody inboxed me, he said he wanted to talk to me. I obliged him and we started talking. Before you know it, it has turned to insult and incoming. I just asked him one question, how am I your brother? How is Peter Obi my brother? How did Peter Obi became my brother? You betrayed your brother and you supported Tinubu, look at what Tinubu is doing to you."
