The dispute surrounding the alleged defection of 27 lawmakers from the PDP to the APC in Rivers State has been discussed by Tony Okocha, the chairman of the APC's Caretaker Committee in that state.

In a video that Channels TV posted, Okocha said that the legislators who support the beleaguered Speaker of the Rivers House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, are not formally registered members of the APC.

According to him, their names are not listed on the APC membership roster. He said these legislators appeared to be having difficulties in the PDP, so the APC was attempting to get them to join them.

According to Okocha, "The truth is that their names are not in our register; we were wooing them; it is our duty to woo people into the APC, and we were wooing them to join us."

"We were not saying they were members of our party. We were wooing them to come because they seemed to be hopeless and helpless in the party that produced them."
