Tochukwu Innocent Nonso Ucheagwu, the leader of a notorious robbery gang, has confessed to a brazen crime. He and his cohorts targeted unsuspecting victims under the Otedola Bridge, relieving them of their valuables. On this particular occasion, a group of women disembarked from a bus, unaware of the danger lurking nearby. One of them, a police officer, was distracted by her phone, presenting the perfect opportunity for the gang to strike. Ucheagwu barked orders, demanding they surrender their belongings. While most complied, one woman resisted, prompting Ucheagwu to use his cutlass, forcing her and the others to lie flat on the ground.

According to the confession made by Tochukwu Innocent Nonso Ucheagwu in the report by Vanguard, "Some ladies came down from the bus, and one of them, whom I did not know was a police officer, was fiddling with her phone. We then decided to strike. I shouted that they should surrender all their belongings, and the woman who was with two phones surrendered them without resistance. She struggled with me, and I had to strike her with the cutlass I was armed with. That forced her to lie flat on the ground, and other ladies that were with her followed suit.
