Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, a human rights activist and attorney, responded to Senior Advocate of Nigeria Mike Ozekhome's claim that he is not endorsing Yahaya Bello, the EFCC, or the Kogi State government—the entities whose funds are allegedly at the core of the dispute.
Ozekhome released the following in response to Yahaha Bello's designation as sought by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) on suspicion of money laundering.
Ozekhome wrote an essay titled "Yahaya Bello; victim or aggressor?" in which he declared that he does not favour any of the participants in the case.
Ozekhome said, "Let me stress here that I am neither on the side of Yahaya Bello, nor that of the EFCC, or the Government of Kogi State whose funds are allegedly at the heart of the dispute. I will not cry more than the bereaved. My intervention here is limited to the legal ramifications and propriety of the steps taken so far by both sides of the divide".
Conversely, Chidi Odinkalu has already addressed the statements made by the Senior Advocate of Nigeria. He continued by saying that, according to a tweet on his official Twitter page, it looks like his former boss has acquired a very wealthy new client.
Odinkalu wrote this in a post on his verified Twitter page.
"It looks like my former Oga, Mike Ozekhome, SAN has acquired a very profitable new client."
