In a recent interview with The Sun, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Rivers State, dismissed the celebration by Amaewhule and his group over the Court of Appeal's ruling, stating that their defection from the PDP to the APC renders them ineligible to continue as lawmakers.
Eze argued that the Court of Appeal's decision did not address the core issue of their defection, which automatically terminates their membership as lawmakers. He questioned the basis of their celebration, urging law-abiding citizens to remain calm and not fall prey to the defectors' alleged plot to create chaos and pave the way for a state of emergency declaration in Rivers State.
In his own words, “The Court of Appeal (CoA) didn’t entertain the major subject matter of Amaewhule and his group defecting from PDP to APC, which caused them to cease as lawmakers. So, what are they celebrating when they are aware that by defecting from the PDP to the APC, they have ceased to be lawmakers?”
