The incident that occurred on Friday in Osun State involved an unknown driver who hit an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) while the officer was on duty.

According to an eyewitness named Salam Ademola, the other officers present quickly moved to safety upon seeing the oncoming car and the speed at which the driver was approaching.

However, the officer who was eventually hit waited, expecting the driver to stop.

Unfortunately, the driver did not stop, and when the officer tried to run for safety, it was too late. The car struck the officer, causing him to be knocked off the road and dragged a few meters away from the scene.

Despite the severity of the incident, the driver callously did not stop after hitting the officer.

This incident underscores the dangers faced by road safety personnel while carrying out their duties and highlights the importance of drivers adhering to traffic laws and exercising caution on the roads to ensure the safety of all road users.

According to Vanguard, Ademola said, “Other officers upon sighting the car and the speed the driver was on, quickly ran to safety but the officer that was knocked down waited believing that the driver would stop.

“Unfortunately when he decided to run for safety, it was a bit too late as the car knocked him off the road and drag him few meters from the scene. The driver did not stop despite knocking down the officer."
