According to Daniel Bwala, a legal practitioner, Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), "shot himself" in his most recent media conference.

In a video that was uploaded on YouTube by Arise TV, Bwala reported that Olukoyede stated that he offered former Governor Yahaya Bello the opportunity to come to his office through a private entrance for the purpose of interrogation, but Bello declined the offer. It was his contention that this method demonstrated a double standard in the application of EFCC principles and that there should be no exceptions to the rule that everyone should be treated equally before the law.

Bwala also stated that Olukoyede had voiced his determination to arrest Bello; nevertheless, there are other incidents that are comparable to this one in which individuals have not been arrested despite reports of their wrongdoings against them. As an example, he referred to the situation of the minister of humanitarian affairs, who was suspended but had not been arrested.

In Bwala's words: "The media interview Olukoyede did yesterday, he shot himself with so many types of bullets by clearly showing to the world that there is a disproportionate application of their principles".
