The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) against its 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and 13 others over alleged mismanagement of party funds.

In a petition signed by the National Secretary, Oginni Olaposi Sunday, and submitted to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on May 2, 2024, the party accused Kwankwaso and others of fraud and misuse of party funds.

According to the petition, Kwankwaso and his representatives, including Elder Buba Galadima, Senator Hunkuyi Suleiman, and Prof. Bem Angwe, approached the NNPP leadership in 2022 to contest for the presidency on the party's platform. A memorandum of understanding was signed, and the National Executive Committee was dissolved, with new officers elected to run the party.

However, the party alleged that Kwankwaso used the platform to enrich himself and propagate the "Kwankwasia movement" rather than genuinely contesting the presidential election.

Vanguard reported that the petition accused Kwankwaso and others of mismanaging party funds, using the party for personal gains, and breaching the memorandum of understanding.

The NNPP called on the EFCC to investigate the allegations and take appropriate action against Kwankwaso and the 13 others named in the petition.
