What are the South-East governors doing? Are they cursed not to work together — Ndigbo on insecurity

According to Vanguard, Ndigbo continue to voice concerns over persistent insecurity in the South-East region, urging governors to prioritize collective action to address the issue.

The ongoing insecurity has devastated numerous families and severely impacted the regional economy. Residents believe it's imperative for governors to collaborate effectively, as individual efforts have fallen short.

In contrast, South-West governors have established a successful regional security outfit and initiated joint agricultural projects aimed at improving livelihoods. Similarly, Northern governors recently convened a security summit to strategize against insurgency and crime.

Ndigbo question why their governors haven't united like their counterparts, suggesting that ego and internal differences may be hindering progress. Businesses are suffering, and traditional ceremonies are often held outside the region due to security concerns, discouraging investments and reducing states' revenue.

They said, "What are the South-East governors doing? Are they cursed not to work together or is it an issue of ego? Businesses are collapsing; traditional ceremonies meant to be held in Igbo land are still done outside the region due to insecurity. Some Igbo investors have refused to take their businesses to the region. Sadly, this is affecting the internally generated revenue base of their states, and they resort to taxing their already impoverished citizens to death. Time is now for them to bury their differences and ego, and work as a team for the good of the people of the region."
