Court Stops Adeleke From Presenting Staff Of Office

Barely one month after the court sacked a monarch appointed by Governor Ademola Adeleke, Justice Micheal Awe, stopped him from presenting staff of office to the second king of Iree, Oba Muritala Oyelakin.

The Nation recalled that two kings emerged as the Aree of Iree in the Boripe local government area of Osun state after Adeleke rejected the appointment of Oba Ademola Ponnle by his predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola and appointed Muritala Oyelakin as king.

However, there has been a crisis in the community over the emergence of two kings and kingmakers shunning the traditional rites of Oba Oyelakin.

FG Adds 625MW To National Grid- Minister

The Federal Government has announced the addition of 625MW of power to the national grid, increasing the grid’s wheeling capacity to 4800MW. .

Mr Bolaji Tunji, Special Adviser, Strategic Communications to the Minister of Power said this in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

Bolaji quoted the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu as saying this at the inauguration of the 63 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA), 132/33 Kilo Volt (KV )mobile station at Ajah, Lagos and at the inauguration of 60MWA, 132/33KV Power Transformer in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi


NSITF Pledges Support For Tinubu On Social Investment Agenda

The Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has said it would contribute towards the actualisation of President Bola Tinubu’s eight-point agenda on health, education, social investment, and agriculture.

The organisation said as a leading social security institution in Africa with over 60 years of experience in the social security sector, it has a huge role and responsibility in realising the key priority areas of the present administration.

The Managing Director of NSITF, Maureen Allagoa, pledged in Abuja at a workshop on the “Role of the Fund in actualising the government’s eight priority areas.”


ASUU Rejects Advertisement Of Vice Chancellor Post At MAU Yola

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in the Modibbo Adama University, MAU, Yola, has rejected the advertisement for the vice chancellor position at the university.

The union, which called a press conference on the matter, stressed that it totally rejected the advertisement of the vacancy for the post of vice chancellor in MAU because the action was illegal.

Chairperson of the MAU chapter of ASUU, El-Maude Jibreel Gambo who read the text of the press conference to newsmen, said advertisement of vacancies for the offices of vice chancellor and other principal officers in all federal universities has procedures both under normal and abnormal circumstances.


Kogi Gov Commends Media Practitioners

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has praised the sacrifices and contributions of media practitioners in deepening the democratic space.

In a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Ismaila Isah, on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day May, Governor Ododo eulogized the press for its role in holding the government to account in the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.

The Kogi State Governor noted that the 2024 commemoration of the World Press Freedom Day is a reminder of the importance of a free and independent press in our democracy.
