Erik ten Hag has provided an update regarding his preparations for Manchester United's Premier League matchup at Old Trafford against Burnley. After defeating Sheffield United in midweek, the Reds moved up to sixth place in the standings and will try to pick up three more points against the Clarets. Speaking briefly following the 4-2 victory over the Blades, Ten Hag hinted that only Mason Mount might make a comeback for Saturday's kickoff, given the manager's ongoing battle with an extensive injury list.

"It's the same squad but Mason Mount, he will return to the squad," he confirmed during his press conference on Friday.

Among the players who did not play on Wednesday include Jonny Evans, Willy Kambwala, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, and Anthony Martial.

Owing to a dearth of defensive options, Casemiro and Harry Maguire have been stepping in at center back with Bruno Fernande's playing with his hand bandaged following an injury he sustained during the Emirates FA Cup semi-final victory against Coventry City via penalty shootout at Wembley.

Ten Hag underlined his optimism that defensive reinforcements will return at some point in the upcoming month, and that Anthony Martial, the striker, will likely be available once more.

He said, "Yes, I think so," in response to a question concerning Shaw, Martinez, and Martial in particular. "I believe that this season will bring us all together to see them again."

"All three of them came back onto the field. They must begin team training the next week, and we believe they will be ready for the final few weeks of the campaign. They are making good progress."
