Anabs Sara-Igbe, the National Coordinator of the South-South Leadership Forum, has emphatically declared that the lawmakers who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the pro-Wike camp lack the legal authority to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State. Sara-Igbe underscored that, in the eyes of the law, these lawmakers are now considered impostors.

During an interview with ARISE NEWS on Wednesday, Sara-Igbe further contended that President Tinubu does not possess the prerogative to override the decision of a court of competent jurisdiction.

The coordinator maintained that despite a court ruling mandating their removal from office, the 27 lawmakers persist in exercising authority, which he deemed illegitimate, accusing them of arbitrarily enacting laws fueled by dissent.

Sara-Igbe criticized the conduct of those self-styled members of the House of Assembly, asserting that their actions do not befit individuals holding such honorable titles. He emphasized the importance of integrity in upholding the rule of law, expressing disappointment in their failure to adhere to legal statutes. Furthermore, he highlighted Section 109 (F) of the law, which effectively nullifies their membership in the House of Assembly.

In his words: “The people who call themselves members of the House of Assembly as honourables, are not honorable enough. An honorable person is one who stands by his word. In this instance, we have not seen that in them. If you cannot obey laws and you are a lawmaker, who will obey your law. We see them as impostors because by virtue of section 109 (F), they are no longer members of the House of Assembly and that is why the elders of Rivers State, including myself, went to court. Unfortunately, the chief judge took the case from the Judge that it was assigned to and gave it to the judge of the former governor who did not even listen to us."
