The Coalition of Rivers State Professionals has raised concerns about the involvement of youths in paid protests aimed at fueling violence amidst the ongoing local government council chairmen tenure elongation crisis in the state. The group's spokesperson, Architect Ipalibo West Mnia, highlighted this issue during a press conference held on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in Port Harcourt.

Mnia emphasized that the apparent demonstrations orchestrated by the youths were not genuine expressions of concern for the state's development but rather orchestrated gatherings funded to sow unrest. In his words, "I want to tell you that the crowds you see on the streets today in Port Harcourt are hired crowds. They are not youths that are interested in the development of this state."

Expressing skepticism towards the motives behind these protests, Mnia pointed out the incongruity of responsible youth involvement in such activities during an administration that has been exemplary in governance.

He stated, "No right thinking person or no right thinking youth of their state will at this moment, in the political life of Rivers State, come out to the streets in an administration of a man that has set the pace in good governance in this country."

Mnia further alleged that the orchestrated unrest was a ploy by certain politicians who do not have the state's best interests at heart to incite chaos. He cautioned against playing into their agenda and provoking a state of emergency in Rivers State.

He stated, "What they are trying to do in Rivers State is to push the people to react, so that a statement of emergency can be declared in Rivers State. I tell you, take it to the bank, we have not got near any level of declaring a State of emergency in Rivers State, and by the grace of God, it will never happen in Rivers State."

The professional coalition urged the public to remain vigilant and discerning amid the ongoing crisis, emphasizing the importance of upholding peace and stability in the region.
