According to The Sun, Chief Chi Nwogu, a prominent businessman in Northern Nigeria and the immediate past President General of the Igbo Delegates Assembly in the 19 Northern states and Abuja, shared his insights on various issues in a recent interview. As a former chairman of the Igbo Community Association in Kano, Nwogu's perspectives carry significant weight within the community and beyond. One of the key topics discussed was the performance and future prospects of Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate in the last election.

Nwogu praised Obi's performance in the recent presidential election, describing it as outstanding. He emphasized that Obi's campaign had positively impacted the image of Ndigbo and resonated with Nigerians who share his vision of a better country. Nwogu highlighted that Obi's achievements transcended ethnic lines, noting that he is now regarded as an asset in Nigeria's democratic landscape. According to Nwogu, Obi's challenge moving forward is to maintain his momentum and avoid pitfalls orchestrated by political adversaries, which are commonplace in Nigerian politics.

Reflecting on Obi's strategy, Nwogu commended his inclusive approach, which has seen him engaging with diverse communities and participating in various events across the country. This outreach, Nwogu noted, has been crucial in enhancing Obi's national appeal. He specifically mentioned Obi's interactions with the Muslim Ummah during the fasting and Sallah period as a testament to his commitment to unity and understanding across different faiths and ethnic groups.

Nwogu's interview underscores the broad support Peter Obi enjoys and his potential to influence Nigeria's political landscape in future elections. By fostering inclusivity and staying resilient against political challenges, Obi is positioned to remain a significant figure in Nigerian politics, appealing to a wide range of citizens who share his vision for the nation's progress.

He said: I think that from all measurements, Peter has done well for himself and good for the image of Ndigbo and of course for all Nigerians who believe in his vision of a better Nigeria. I am talking as a Nigerian. I need to stress this point at this juncture to avoid the danger of being labeled a tribal commentator. Peter is now an asset of the Nigerian democratic space. I feel that what is to be done now is for him to sustain the tempo and to steer clear of efforts by his opposition to bring him down. That is typical of Nigeria politics. I like the fact that he has been opening up himself to the rest of Nigeria. And has participated in various events and ceremonies- tragic and happy – across faiths and tribes in Nigeria. I remember very well that he spent some time with Muslim Ummah during the fasting and Sallah period. This is the way to go.
