The Police Service Commission (PSC) has stated that the screening personnel should be held accountable if they allow deaf, mute, or suicidal individuals to be recruited into the Nigerian police force. According to Vanguard News, the Commission revealed that during the recent recruitment of 10,000 constables, the physical and medical evaluations were conducted by police personnel themselves. The PSC has demanded that the police provide verifiable evidence to substantiate the allegations made against the Commission, describing the claims as an attempt to undermine the PSC's reputation.

The PSC has expressed disturbance over the "blatant disregard for ethics, the Constitution, and valid court rulings" and asserts its exclusive statutory authority over police recruitment. The Supreme Court has reinforced the PSC's role, and the Commission is insisting that its list of successful candidates undergo a thorough forensic audit.

The PSC has appealed to the President to protect its constitutional mandate and rein in the Police Force, which the Commission believes is deliberately trying to circumvent the law and maintain control over the constable recruitment process.
