To elevate the South East geopolitical zone to the same level as other zones, Hon. Amobi Ogah, who represents the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal district in the House of Representatives, has released additional details regarding his bill that proposes the establishment of Etiti State.

The congressman from the Labour Party told VANGUARD in an exclusive interview while in Umuahia that, in contrast to other plans, the Etiti State would be beneficial to all five of the zone's current states.

Ogah pointed out that the majority of the South East House of Representatives support the plan. He maintained that since the establishment of a new state for the Southeast is based on equality, it is only fair that all of the states in the zone reap its benefits.

According to him, the new state will receive at least two LGAs from each of the following South Eastern states: Abia's Isuikwuato and Umunneochi, Imo's Okigwe and Onuimo, Anambra's Orumba North and Orumba South, Ebonyi's Ivo and Ohozara, and Enugu's Oji River, Awgu, and Aninri. This setup makes sure that no state gets screwed.

According to him, "Etiti State makes more sense" because it will receive at least two LGAs from each of the Southeast states. Abia will send Isuikwuato and Umunneochi, Imo will send Okigwe and Onuimo LGAs, Anambra will send Orumba North and Orumba South, Ebonyi will send Ivo and Ohozara LGAs, and Enugu State will send Oji River, Awgu, and Aninri. So that no state feels left out, it affects all five of them.

It is in the greatest interest of the entire South East, the legislator emphasized, and he pleaded with Ndigbo both at home and abroad to put aside their differences and work together to realize Etiti State.
