Don’t repeat Buhari’s mistakes, Shehu Sani warns Tinubu

A former Senator representing the Kaduna Central District in the 8th National Assembly, Shehu Sani has appealed to President Bola Tinubu not to repeat the mistakes of his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, especially in the area of rejigging his cabinet.
Tinubu officially took over from Buhari after his inauguration into office on May 29, 2023.
Sani, an activist, however, claimed the eight-year tenure of the former military Head of State was fraught with nepotism and incompetence, especially in terms of governance, security and economic policies.
The federal lawmaker made the plea when he was featured as a guest on Sunday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today.
US Supreme Court rules on Trump’s immunity Monday

The US Supreme Court is expected to rule Monday on the most highly anticipated decision of its term — a ruling “for the ages” on whether Donald Trump, as a former president, is immune from prosecution.
Even if the ruling is likely to reject Trump’s claim he should enjoy absolute immunity, the decision will be key in whether his trial for conspiring to overturn his 2020 election loss can go ahead before this year’s election, in which he is the Republican candidate.

“We are writing a rule for the ages,” said conservative justice Neil Gorsuch, who was appointed by Trump, as arguments were heard in April.
“This case has huge implications for the presidency, for the future of the presidency, for the future of the country,” added Justice Brett Kavanaugh, another Trump appointee.
Amnesty Programme: Ondo ex-agitators seek Tinubu’s intervention for inclusion

Some ex-agitators in Ondo State on Monday appealed to President Bola Tinubu to prevail on the Presidential Amnesty Programme to integrate them into the programme.
They claimed that no fewer than 1,000 documented ex-militants were marginalised by the Presidential Amnesty Programme seven years after submitting their arms and ammunition.
The leader of ex-militants, General Deji Ehinmowo, made the plea at a news conference in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government area of the state.
The ex-agitators were members of the United Sea-wolf Avengers, Awaja camp, Black Bush camp, Polugbene camp, Sehinde camp, Eti eremi-ofara camp, Kofawe camp, Nigboroko camp, Mafia camp, Beware of Trouble camp and Mafia Lotto camp.
The former agitators who lamented that they were yet to be integrated into the programme, begged President Tinubu to “graciously approve” their inclusion into the Amnesty programme
SON cracks down on substandard products in Borno

The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has intensified its efforts to combat the proliferation of substandard products in Borno markets, cracking down on defaulters.
Speaking to Nigerian Tribune in Maiduguri on Monday, the agency’s Borno coordinator, Engr. Muhammed Sani Abubakar, warned defaulters to desist from producing or importing substandard products, citing the harmful effects on consumers and the economy.
According to him, SON collaborates with security services, civil defence, customs, and other regulatory agencies to stop the influx of substandard products from neighboring countries. Citing “We have a synergy with other agencies and takes immediate action when discovering non-compliant products.
