During the last presidential election that eventually saw Tinubu emerge as president-elect, one of those who contested on the APC primary presidential ticket was the former vice president, Yemi Osinbajo. In the run-in to the election, Yemi Osinbajo, in a video that has now resurfaced online, was seen saying everyone prays for a country that is peaceful and prosperous, but God allows us, by our voting, to show him whether we mean the prayer or not, as one cannot wish the country well and vote for someone they do not believe in.
Reacting to the video, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour said if APC had given Osinbajo the ticket, Nigeria's political discourse would have been elevated, and to imagine the quality of debates and ideas, as candidates would have a vision to sell, not division. Gbadebo went on to say there would have been a presidential debate where supporters would argue as it would be epic, but in the end, Peter Obi would still have one.
