According to the report from the Vanguard, Chairman of the Committee, Prince Kayode Akiolu, emphasized the detrimental impact of corruption on national development. He stated, "Corruption is a huge burden hindering national development... no country can develop without eliminating graft." Akiolu highlighted Nigeria's underperformance and failure to reach its potential due to dishonest practices. He pointed out the necessity to revamp and reenergize anti-corruption agencies like the Economic Financial Crimes, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, for enhanced effectiveness.

Akiolu underscored, "There can be no doubt that corruption is a huge burden on the neck of any nation... nations that successfully shake off this massive load can march towards real growth and development." He urged for a transition from mere potential greatness to a higher level of genuine greatness, emphasizing the urgent need to confront corruption to unlock Nigeria's full potential.

Acknowledging Nigeria's status as a great nation with significant economic and demographic stature, Akiolu noted its abundant human capital and natural resources. Despite commendable past leadership roles, he lamented the country's underachievement relative to its immense potential. Stressing the importance of addressing corruption, he remarked, "We need to bring corruption to its knees so that our country can rise to its full height... to deliver on its incredible promise."

In advocating for a corruption-free Nigeria, Akiolu called for the removal of the shackles of corruption to enable the nation to thrive and progress towards realizing the collective aspirations for a prosperous future.
