According to Soccernet.ng, French President Emmanuel Macron was recently photographed with former Super Eagles star Taye Taiwo at a charitable football tournament.

The former Super Eagles defender stopped playing for the national team in 2012. He started his international career with the Nigeria U-20 squad at the FIFA World Youth Championship.

The football player most recently showed up on Wednesday for a charity game organised by the First Lady of France's foundation. The purpose of the charity match was to raise funds for children and teenagers in hospitals.

During his playing days, Taiwo shared the pitch with other legendary football players, such as Eden Hazard of Real Madrid and Didier Drogba of Chelsea. Not to be left out of the action during the event, President Macron demonstrated his football prowess and even scored.

The Nigerian forward's appearance is unusual because many have been wondering what he has been up to in recent years. After having a fantastic run in France, Taiwo's career declined, and he has been out of the spotlight for a while.

Despite never having made an official retirement announcement, Taiwo, 39, has been out of the football game for nearly two years. He was released from the Finnish club Salon Palloilijat in June 2022 after making his final match appearance there.
