Bukayo Saka says £21m former Arsenal teammate Mikel Arteta sold has carried on his club form to the ongoing European Championship.
Arsenal have seen significant improvements under Mikel Arteta, with the team coming close to ending their Premier League title drought last season, finishing just two points behind Manchester City.
The squad’s progress has been bolstered by impressive performances from key players like Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka.
However, Bukayo Saka has recently praised a former Arsenal player, Granit Xhaka, who left the club last summer for Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth around £21 million.
Saka, who had an outstanding season with 16 goals and nine assists in the Premier League, expressed admiration for Xhaka’s performances since leaving Arsenal.
According to the England star, Xhaka has carried on the form from helping Bayer Leverkusen win the German Bundesliga title, DFB Pokal, and reaching the Europa League final to his European Championship performances for Switzerland.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, Saka noted, “Since he left Arsenal? Yeah, I have spoken to him a few times, but not since we came to this tournament. He has had an amazing year with Leverkusen and looks like he has carried on that form into this tournament. So, yeah, I am happy for him, so let’s see if we end up playing them.”
